In 1912 two brothers William and Gilbert Greenslade, who had previously joined their father's cycle repairing and manufacturing business, purchased a Model T Taxi. They quickly expanded the business by purchasing two more Model T's and introduced a service between Hele Station and Bradninch. They further expanded with a couple of French built charabancs and commenced a coach service from Bradninch.
In May 1933 Greenslades became Greenslades Tours Ltd
During the war Greenslades Tours held contracts with the War Department and after the war sold the business to Devon General to concentrate on Tours and Holidays.
1953 saw Greenslades Tours sold to British Electric Traction with the main depot remaining in Exeter and further depots opened across Devon. This also saw the company expand its Holiday offerings.

In 1969 B.E.T sold Greenslades to Western National part of the National Bus Company and with the privatisation in 1983 Greenslades passed to newly formed Devon General. 1987 Nightingale Coaches of Exmouth purchased Greenslades from Devon General.
1990 Greenslades was saved after a hard recession by Hookways of Meeth and Greenslades bacame Hookways Greenslades.
Hookways Greenslades continued to trade until 2011 when the company ceased trading.
The name Greenslades became dormant until late 2018 when it began trading again as Greenslades Tours (Exeter) Ltd.
